1.  Dr. Dharamveer Bharti was a renowned Hindi poet, author, playwright and a social           thinker of India. He was the chief editor of the popular Hindi weekly magazine magazine       Dharmayug from 1960 till his death in 1997.                                                                

Bharti was awarded the Padma Shri for literature in 1972 by the Government of India.            Bharti's Suraj ka Satvan Ghoda is considered a unique experiment in story telling and was made into a National film Award- Winning movie by the same name in 1992 by Shyam Bengal.

2.  Rabindranath Tagore was arguably India's greatest poet, author and composer. He become the first Nobel Laureate from Asia, when he won the Nobel Prize for literature in 1913. 

His works include Gitanjali, Gora and Ghare - Baire. His Rabindra sangeet is still extremely popular and two of them are now national anthems, 'Jana Gana Mana' and 'Amar Shonar Bangla'.

3. An outstanding Hindi poet, Mahadevi Verma was a freedom fighter, women' s activist and educationist from India. She is widely regarded as the "modern Meera" She was one of the four pillars of Chhayavad Age, The great movement in Hindi society. 

She was awarded India's highest literary award for lifetime achievement the Sahitya  Akademi Fellowship in 1979. She was also the recipient of Padma Vibhushan. 

4. Munshi premchand was one of the leading writers of Hindi literature. His real name was Dhanpat Rai Srivastava. His stories touched the heart of common man.

He has been referred to as the 'Upanyas Samrat' by some Hindu writers. His works includes more than a dozen novels, around 250 short stories, Several essays and translations of a number of foreign literary works in Hindi.

5. Shivani was one of the popular Hindi magazine story writers of the 20th century and a pioneer in writing Indian women based fiction. She was awarded the Padma Shri for her contribution to Hindi literature in 1982. 

She garnered a massive following in the pre-television 60s and 70s, as her literary works were serialized in Hindi magazines like Dharmayug and Saptahik Hindustan, and in TV serials and Films.
